Thorough Documentation to Support Your Claim
Professional Estimates. Detailed Records.
After property damage, thorough documentation makes a real difference. Dark Sky Restoration provides professional Xactimate estimates, detailed photo documentation, and complete restoration work — giving your insurance company everything it needs to accurately evaluate your loss.
We're your contractor — not your claims representative. Your claim is between you and your insurer, and you are responsible for payment. We focus on doing the restoration work right and documenting it thoroughly.
How We Support Your Claim
From the first call to the final walkthrough, we document every aspect of the damage and restoration work.
Damage Documentation
We photograph and document all damage thoroughly — structure, contents, and secondary damage — in the format insurance companies require. Our documentation is designed to prevent disputes.
Xactimate Estimating
We write professional estimates using Xactimate — the same software your insurance adjuster uses. When we speak the same language, claims move faster and discrepancies are easier to resolve.
On-Site Adjuster Support
We're available on-site when your adjuster visits to walk through our assessment, answer questions about the scope of work, and provide any documentation they request.
Supplemental Documentation
Additional damage is sometimes found during restoration. We document it thoroughly so you can update your claim with your insurer — keeping the scope accurate throughout the project.
Dispute Support
If your insurer questions the scope of repairs, we provide detailed documentation of what was assessed and why. For formal coverage disputes, we recommend consulting a licensed public adjuster.
Complete Restoration
Once the claim is approved, we execute the full restoration scope — not just the mitigation. One company from emergency response through final walkthrough.
Documentation for All Major Carriers
Our estimates and documentation are formatted to meet the requirements of all major homeowner's insurance companies. No matter who your insurer is, we know what they need.

Common Questions
Are you familiar with all insurance companies?
Yes. We're familiar with the documentation and estimating requirements of all major carriers including State Farm, Allstate, USAA, Nationwide, Travelers, Farmers, Liberty Mutual, and others. We format our estimates and documentation to meet their standards, which helps the process go smoothly.
What is Xactimate and why does it matter?
Xactimate is the industry-standard estimating software used by insurance adjusters. When your contractor uses the same software and pricing database, it dramatically reduces disputes and speeds up claim approval.
Am I responsible for the restoration bill?
Yes — you are responsible for payment to us as your contractor. If your damage is covered by insurance, your insurer may reimburse part or all of the restoration cost, minus your deductible. Coverage amounts vary by policy and the cause of damage. We cannot guarantee what your insurer will pay, and we recommend reviewing your policy with your agent.
What if my insurance company disputes the scope of damage?
We can provide supplemental documentation and detailed photos to support the scope of restoration work we performed or assessed. We are contractors, not licensed public adjusters — for formal claim disputes or coverage denials, we recommend consulting a licensed public adjuster or your own attorney.
How long does the insurance claim process take?
Claim timelines vary by insurer and complexity. Simple, well-documented claims can be processed within 1–2 weeks. Larger losses with significant structural damage may take 4–8 weeks or more. Thorough documentation from the start is the best way to avoid delays — that's where we can help.
